MAE STAFF WRITER, 9/13/24
After reviewing this week's Presidential Debate and thinking about many of the issues that were raised by both candidates students just asked to identify which political party they identified with Here are their choices and explanations. If you want to join the conversation, share your thoughts here Discussions With Diaz
"I identify with the Democratic Party because they take care of the environment and women have the right to choose whether or not they want to have a child." Moderverlie Manasse
"I would pick democrats because I've been around them all my life and they help out minorities the most." Tay Shropshire
"I identify with the Democratic Part. I believe that I agree more with their morals and beliefs." Kamorah Brown
"I would more say I'm a democrat due to my beliefs and the situation I was born in." Rey Perez
"I would say I am a part of the Democratic party because a lot of the things that they stand for or believe in are the things that I agree with like believing that women should have the right to have an abortion if they want/need." Elena Madrigal
"I don't identify with either but I'm more of a leftist, I'm more left wing than right winged. I will never become right winged so if I have to choose in this scenario it would be leaning to Democrat party, I'm more left leaning because I believe that everyone should have the right to choose what they to do as long as no one gets hurt mentally and physical. I believe no one should have a hateful ideology, I support any human rights like pro choice, LGBTQ rights and people of color rights. I believe the rich should not be established, there should be no hierarchy. I believe our government is corrupted and that the citizen should have a saying in laws than rich higher up's to make dumb choices." Itzel Ramales
"I Identify as a Democrat because I grew up in a middle-class family and understand the struggles people face. I’m also Black-African American, which influences my perspective on being comfortable on this side. I’m against the death penalty because I believe it’s wrong to take a life, even as punishment (unless they deserve it fr) instead, they should be sentenced to life in prison (cause there are also people that are innocent sentenced to death). I support a woman’s right to choose, care about protecting the environment, and believe in fair wages and strong labor unions. I think the government should help those in need, and I support taxing the wealthy to fund improvements/important programs." Myca Cunningham
"I like that the democrats are pro choice so the women can choose what they want, which sounds about right to me. They support equal rights which think everyone should have the same rights." Yasmin Ali
"I am in the middle of where I stand at a political stand point; I am not sure what I am. I like both what parties are saying about specific issues, some more than the others. So right now I'm in the middle." Marco Reyna
"I identify with the Democratic party because I like that they support low income people and tax the rich people." Antonio Siles
